For each translation project McFelder Translations offers a bespoke solution which is fully project managed to ensure that we meet all your translation requirements efficiently and effectively.

Once you have accepted a quote and the project is initiated, you need have no further involvement until you are issued with the completed documentation by the commercial manager. From a client’s perspective this is a seamless process. Occasionally you may be required to assist with a translator’s query or further clarification of a specific point, but usually nothing else is required.

The role of the Project Manager is absolutely vital in ensuring that your translation objectives are achieved. Not only is the Project Manager ultimately responsible for quality, s/he is key to ensuring that the translation provided isn’t just fit for purpose, but exceeds your expectations.

Quality control

McFelder’s founding ambition was to deliver a high quality and reliable translation service to our clients. This means we use the best translators, demanding Project Management processes and a stringent Quality Management system. Ultimately this enables us always to deliver a high quality service within the agreed time scales and budget.

Our Quality Management system starts from the basis that our services are provided in accordance with the European standard for translation EN 15038. In many ways, this is not just a quality control procedure, it is the means with which we ensure that the translation services we provide are of the highest possible standard. The EN 15038 Standard requires that we select a first translator and second translator whose first language and specialisation is that of your target audience. A successful translation is one which takes into account the subject matter, specialisation, style, local customs and practices of the target audience. The EN 15038 Standard helps us to achieve that objective.

At McFelder Translations, our quality procedures include:

  • Strict selection criteria to ensure the professional competence of the translator and reviewer.
  • A Project Manager who controls each project. The Project Manager has the responsibility of selecting the correct team of translators and reviewers who are the most suitably qualified in order to conduct the specific assignment. Responsibilities include instructing all parties, monitoring the consistency of the translation as well as monitoring and supervising the project timetable.
  • Only an approved translator will conduct a translation. A second approved translator will also revise the document again. The first translator will review the revised document and accept or decline the changes made. The Project Manager will conduct the final review of the text and ensure that the text is fully formatted and edited as in the original.
  • Clients’ terminology glossaries or dictionaries will be used by the translators to ensure quality and consistency with any previous translation work conducted.
  • Documentation will be returned to the client fully formatted and print ready.
  • The Project Manager has the responsiblity for the release of the translated text.
