Translations of Patent and Legal Documentation
We regularly translate documents where only specialist translators are used
The requirement for legal translations can fall into a very wide remit particularly within both the private and public sector. This can include documentation such as: court proceedings, contracts, tender documents, exportation, patents, real estate, financial agreements, intellectual property, confidentiality agreements etc.
McFelder regularly translates legal documentation where only specialist translators are used. Our project managers carefully select the most suitable translation team for every assignment. In many cases the translator may have been a lawyer or even a Q.C. Their first class legal knowledge and linguistic skills ensures that our clients are always provided with top quality, accurate translations. A legal translation cannot be left to chance or conducted by a non-specialist.
In certain cases, we work in accordance with confidential agreements between ourselves and our clients where the translated text is of a highly sensitive and confidential nature. This may be the case for translations of subject matters such as intellectual property or technology transfers, for example.
McFelder also has significant expertise in the translation of patent documents. A patent document is written in accordance with very strict style and format. Again, only specialist translators could translate a document of such a highly technical but legal nature.
What is a Sworn Translation?
A sworn translation is a translation requiring legal validation. This type of translation can only be conducted by an authorised sworn translator. The translation will be signed and sealed by the authorised sworn translator and it is valid as an official translation. Sworn translations can only be provided on paper since they have to be signed and sealed.
Typical cases McFelder Translations has provided sworn translations include:
- Legal documents
- Official recognition of academic certificates
- Naturalisation proceedings
- Residents' permits
- Powers of attorney

- Birth Certificates
- Marriage Certificates
