Motorcycle Moto GP translationsA motorcycle or motorbike is a single-track, two-wheeled motor vehicle powered by an engine. The motorbike has always been seen as a symbol of rebellion and freedom against “establishment” constraints. The movie industry has also had a long love affair with the motorbike where it often portrays an image of rebellion. Featuring in films such as “Easy Rider” and “Terminator 2 : Judgment Day”.

The motorcycle industry is an exciting growth sector, which has shown a projected 6% annual growth rate to 2009.  The demand for scooters, mopeds and light motorcycles is expected to be particularly strong, driven by continued rising income levels in emerging markets such as India, China, and Southeast Asia.

Rising fuel prices and (in some markets) continued restrictions on car use, have driven the demand for two-wheeled motorised transport.

The implementation of new exhaust emissions regulations could trigger an increased demand for newer, cleaner engine designs in emerging markets where mobile source pollution has become a primary concern.
